" You've never seen everything..."

7.05.2003

I am enjoying a less warm evening !
I am blogging weekly now, for a while because of my shoulder strain and RSI . They are rearing their ugly heads, and I am trying to quit the internet for a whole week. I am now realising how hooked I am on WWDN , wandering through fanfic, surfing , writing here and my website, and to not to do this for a week... and I will be at home, with laptop sitting on my chair or laying on my bed. I am designating the next few weeks as the weeks I get my physical body back in balance.
I have enjoyed some good DVD's and some not so good.
Dark Angel /First season : 4 cups of a very good, smokey coffee. Excellent. Highly recommended.
Vanilla Sky : 2 1/2 cups . So-so, confusing, too aesthetic in parts.
Great Dictator : 4 1/2 cups of organic shade grown coffee. His speech at the end is still relevant today.
White Oleander : 4 cups of very rich, elegant coffee. Very good. Well done commentary , they include the author of the book !! The author, Janet Fritch comes off as a pleased scribe in Hollywood. Makes you want to trust the director and producers. Gives me hope that at least part of Hollywood knows which way the wind blows. Or in their case, the Santa Anas.
Don't Look Back : 5 cups of excellent strong coffee. Few people in Dylan's position now can afford to invite some young english girls up for an autograph and breif talk and not make it an MTV contest event or something slightly sleazy. This is of another era, but his words will probably last centuries.
Full Frontal: 1 1/2 cups of coffee... this is the sort of thing you want to see for free, not money. Oh well. Worth about 2.00$ Slightly confusing, very self-referential, just somebody's experiment that's not my cup of joe.
I am reading a lot. I quit my dead end job that was slowly squishing away who I was, so now I am reading a variety of books, aimed towards helping me explore the world in a variety of ways.
Here are some things to ponder while I wander away, trying to get my shoulder strain etc. under control or at least, manage it a lot better...

Pangaia they explore paganism in a very interesting way. I like their style, their substance. I liked the article on Pagan ethics.
Virtue of the Midsummer season :
Power.

then, in the same exploration of paganism vein, the book:
Paganism : an Introduction to Earth Centered Religions by Joyce & River Higginbotham

books I just bought to help me with my RSI injuries...
Healing Back Pain Naturally by art Brownstein MD
For example...he notes in a picture on page 21 , that there is a natural curve in the lower back, when this curve is reduced the lower back is unhealthy.
End Your Carpal Tunnel Pain Without Surgery by Kate Montgomery
this is an exgtensive exploration of the syndrome. I have a few of the symptoms, and know I am not using proper procedure at home for ergonomics. This will help me with my home office.
Stretching For Fitness , Health and Performance ; the Complete Handbook for All Ages and Fitness levels by Dr Christopher A. Oswald & Dr. Stanley N. Basco
For example, it advises you to n ever go beyond icing the area of pain for more than 12 minutes. I wish I had known that when I had my sprained ankle. It has a variety of series of stretches for particular areas of the body, specific sports, and also for various problems such as carpal tunnel and tendonitus etc.
I also have of course, a long list of " fun " books to read. My plan is almost everyday to walk to 10 blocks to one of my favorite cafes in town and read a book for an hour or so. I get some exercise, a good destination and decent coffee or Italian soda , too.
I hope this week to feel even 10% better in my body. I hope everyone's situation improves in their lives, even if it just one less stressor ( my one less stressor is my job ) and everybody, do something or learn something new this week.
May we all have a clean, well lit place to read, and peace.
I shall return , probably July 12-14 or so.
