Long time, no see. Long time, no write. I have updated my website off and on, but not here. I am doing a celebrity fast. I want to do this for my website, take down everything about various actors, actresses etc. for at least til mid week. I might get enough gumption to do this tomorrow.
Celebrity, fame, actors, etc. it all fascinates me and gets me hooked. Hooked so much I don't pay attention to my interior states, my way of seeing .
I would hate to be a celebrity. To be intruded on at a moment's notice. To be having lunch with someone- not a business lunch , or " meeting" but a real lunch with an old freind or family member, and have it interrupted by someone who wants to see the private public you.
So. I am paying attention to my own interests, my own real life things that need to be paid attention to. Do I feel nuts for being interested in this, that or the other famous talents? Noooo. These people do inspire me. They are human beings, gifted with a variety of levels and depths of talent, and hey, inspiration is as inspiration does. I will take my muses where / when they come. I don't begrudge my time spent looking into the interests etc. of these fine men and women who sing and act . It's time for me to go forward, and listen to the subjects that interest me.
I will say that I am , once I update my website, going to keep up Bruce Willis & his site ( featured site for August, his link is on my front page ) , my raves about Frida, and a link to Salma Hayek's site, and of course, no question, my link to Wilwheaton.net. I see no problem there.
Salma worked long and hard for her movie with Julie Taymor, and they worked long and hard on the movie. It's a labor of love. Her interview in the DVD sets the tone for her particular " brand " of celebrity, and I recommend the movie Frida highly. 5 cups of deeply satisfying coffee. The kinds that gives you a nice buzz, and makes you want one more cup, reminds you why you love coffee, why you love movies to begin with.
A note about Bruce Willis. His site is wonderful. I recommend this site. I also love the Forum he has, it's a newborn, and it's going through growing stages. If you see him looking more youthful than 48, it's because the man is still open to new experiences and truely enjoys contact with people. He isn't a typical " celebrity " and right now, I am staying away from his site... it's addicting. He is visiting the Forum now and then, answering and helping his fans, and if you want to suprise yourself, go over there, take a look see.
And then there is Wil Wheaton. Kinda opposite of Bruce Willis, but hey, maybe not so different after all. He isn't a 20 mil way out recognised everywhere celeb, but he is now a writer who is getting kudos for his book, Dancing Barefoot, and his website knows few peers. I suggest you look at Wil Wheaton's website, and if you're famous , look at Bruce Willis' also.See what your fanbase is really like . If you dare. You might start a dialogue you'll never forget or regret.
So, I am off to explore life sans celebrity after I spent 4 paragraphs or whatever talking about it. Leave all these famous people behind. Be myself, plain old " Coffeedrinkingwoman" me.
Listening : Ani Defranco , Evolve
Soundtrack , Frida
Leonard Cohen , The essential
Watching : 6 feet under, 1st season : 5 cups of strong delicious rich coffee.
Jerry Macguire : Yes ! I love this movie. 4 strong cups of medium roast, mellow coffee.
Probably will get back to reading sometime this next few days. I am having an extreme hard time sitting down reading a book. My bad.
Weather : This has been a sultry summer for Sonoma County.
Coffee at home : Dark Roast , Sumatran , from Trader Joes.
Recommended : Cheryl Richardson's Life Makeovers. Very very good self improvement stuff, and I need a lot of self improvement !! It's divided into 52 chapters that don't throw too much at you.
Yay, Cheryl Richardson.
Hope everyone can find a clean well lit place to read something. Or hey, watch Frida !
Peace, and hope our men & women in Iraq get to come home soon. Goddess bless them, and supply them with water and desert ready supplies and shelter.
