Freinds finale..
I don't have TV. Basic cable where I am is 47 $ and that's ...a DVD set, or a telephone bill, or 2 meals out or 6 books ( used ) or whatever...
So I didn't catch the Freinds Finale. I've watched Freinds. I've had cable off and on for 20 years or more, and yes, I liked Freinds. I got hooked on it by a freind I worked with who taped it, and played it at work, along with ER. I think this was 1995-6 and went on for around a season and a half, enough to get some continituity. I enjoyed Bruce Willis being on it... liked Phoebe the best.
Freinds, Frazier going... I got hooked on Frazier in 1997 when I =did= have cable. I had tendonitus, and couldn't work for about 2-3 weeks. They had reruns on constantly and just got into the series through that. The last eppies I caught were while they were making fat jokes instead of having a character actually be preggers ...the humor had gone downhill that season..2000? I think. But when Frazier worked, it was so good.
I have seen a few movies lately in the theatre. I've liked some, been very lukewarm on others, but my main complaint...is the comedy isn't very funny in, like 80% of the comedies I've seen lately. I want to laugh. I am kinda going through a down period, and I want to laugh.
Also, the writing in general isn't as tight or innovative -- watch an eppie of Stargate or CSI or Homicide, or Sex and the City... Sex and the City gets a lot of information through to you in 22-30 minutes !! I compare some of the romantic comedies to say... As Good As It Gets or When Harry Met Sally, or Philidelphia Story... come on, folks !! I don;t know if too many people put their fingers in the writing pot, or somebody waters down the original writing, or if it's lack of of timing on the actor's part, but romantic comedy may be today like 77% romance, 22 % comedy. I am sure people are still capable of writing a nice tight decent script...I hope I see some soon...
I hope somehow to get into a better space, mood, ambience, whatever, in the next few days. I might take a weekend off of the internet and just stare at a rose , read a book, walk too much or something.
Then again, I might hang out and try to find out something that might help me feel better..who knows???
