" You've never seen everything..."

10.10.2004

A day in the life of Normaltrouble...

I had a perfect day.
The weather was excellent- 80's during the day, 79 by around 730p.
I had french toast & ham, a wonderful breakfast at a well established place in my small city.
My freind and I went to the movies and saw what has to be one of the best movies I've seen in a long time...Mary Full of Grace. If you want to see a movie that takes time to set up characterisations and with a real plot...character arcs, excellent script, acting that was very good to excellent- go to see this movie.
One caution, however. There is a scene or two that may be upsetting to sensitive stomachs, but fortunately, they don't last long. Just a little warning.
We went to Borders, where due to my bookfast, I didn't buy any books ( I am not going to buy one single book unless for my book group or college til sometime in April, and i do plan on finishing books where I stop either 20%, 40% or 60% into the book. ) ... however, I bought 3 CD's. I am very happy I bought them !!
I bought : Magnetic Fields - Holiday
Alejandro Escovedo - With These Hands
A Tribute to the Songs of Alejandro Escovido - Por Vida

Alejandro Escovido is amazing. He is like a musical nutrient that I didn't know I needed, but pretty obviously,I did. It's a little later than I usually play music, but ...this man is amazing. I am having a slight problem with the whole Flash player thing, and wish his website wasn't in Flash. Oh well. I remember when I heard Bruce Cockburn or got interested in Sting , and when I heard Ani Defranco or Greg Brown for the first time...there's a certain close knit favorite group of singer-songwriters that are like home to me, music that is like a good meal and Sumatra coffee, and blue torilla chips, like my little stone otter in my living room and the Japanese doll on my bedroom dresser...and Alejandro Escovedo is definately one of these people. Yeah. I recommend his music.

Tonight, I had a wonderful dinner- Safeway teriyaki chicken, blue corn tortilla chips ( Kettle/organic...very good ) salad...followed with some very good ice cream, cinnamony /coffee/with chocolate covered hazelnuts and wow. Good night, I also enjoyed Homicide on DVD and will possibly induldge in more ice cream than is good for me and some more Homicide, on DVD.
